All about TOG ratings
As an additional reference for our customers, we have had our bags tested for their warmth rating to help you decide which bag suits your needs and climate best.
A TOG measurement is a European warmth rating: the higher the TOG, the warmer the product. Curly tops sleeping bags come with two different TOG ratings.
Our summer bags are rated as a 0.85 TOG and,
Our quilted bags are rated as a 3 TOG.
It is important that you do not overheat your baby, and you must always keep this in mind when choosing the correct TOG weight. Our sleeping bags have been tested using random samples and it is essential that you keep in mind that there are many different external factors that may effect the TOG rated bag that you use. These external factors can vary as it does for adults and may include things like the temperature of your home, the climate you live in, the amount of clothing your child is wearing and your baby's health.
Because our sleeping bags have been tested using random samples, these TOG ratings can vary slightly from one bag to the next due to manufacturing.

TOG 3 - Our Quilted Sleeping Bags
These bags are perfect for nursery temperatures of 15 degrees to 21 degrees. Usually best used in Winter, Autumn and Spring. They are lightly quilted but will keep your baby warm enough during the cooler months.
Ideas for dressing your child underneath your Curly Tops 3 TOG sleeping bag:
- Singlet and all in one romper with sleeves and legs
- Singlet and Long sleeved Pyjama's
- Singlet and long sleeved bodysuit without legs for warmer days.

TOG 0.85 - Our Summer Weight Sleeping bags
These sleeping bags are perfect when used in a nursery with temperatures of 19 degrees to 24 degrees. When the weather is warmer during the summer months, your Curly Tops summer sleeping bag is perfect.
Ideas for dressing your child underneath the 0.85 TOG Curly Tops sleeping bag:
- Singlet and all in one romper with sleeves and legs (cooler days)
- Singlet and short sleeved pyjama's
- Short sleeve bodysuit or,
- on those really hot days try just a nappy and singlet underneath

If you are unsure of your baby's nursery temperature, then it is a great idea to invest in a cheap nursery thermometer available from all good baby stores.
In addition, we suggest that you always make sure that your child is not too hot when sleeping as this can contribute to SIDS. Check your baby's comfort levels by gently feeling the back of their neck, if they feel clammy then remove a layer of clothing, and if they feel cold then just add an additional layer of clothing.
